Recurrent Artery of Heubner (A2 branch)

supplies: caudate head, anterior lentiform nucleus, anterior limb of IC, inferior frontal lobe, septal nuclei
  • arises from Acomm usually distal then courses backwards to proximal A1
  • can be injured during Acomm surgery
  • unilateral RAH infarct → contralateral arm/face weakness, dysarthria, akinetic mutism, hemichorea
  • bilateral RAH infarcts → akinetic mutism
