Recurrent Artery of Heubner (A2 branch)

supplies: caudate head, anterior lentiform nucleus, anterior limb of IC, inferior frontal lobe, septal nuclei
  • arises from Acomm usually distal then courses backwards to proximal A1
  • can be injured during Acomm surgery
  • unilateral RAH infarct → contralateral arm/face weakness, dysarthria, akinetic mutism, hemichorea
  • bilateral RAH infarcts → akinetic mutism

Pericallosal and Callosomarginal branches

(A) Distal callosomarginal artery (B) ACA bifurcating into pericallosal artery and callosomarginal artery (transition of A2 to A3). Other branches include (C) MCA (D) supraclinoid ICA (E) origin of opthalmic artery
