  • drop attack
  • diplopia
  • dysarthria
  • defect (visual field)
  • dizziness

PHYSICAL EXAM

  • evaluate for diplopia
  • evaluate for speech
  • evaluate visual fields

IMAGING

 

A/P
Clinical diagnosis = 2+ of the following:
  • motor/sensory sx or both, occurring bilaterally in same event
  • diplopia: ischemia of upper brainstem (midbrain) near nuclei
  • dysarthria: ischemia of lower brainstem
  • homonymous hemianopsia: ischemia of occipital cortex (binocular, unlike monocular amarosis fugax)
